Empowering women to become self sufficient and free from violence.

Our mission at Dottie’s House

Our mission at Dottie’s House is to provide safe housing for women and their children through a program that empowers them to become self-sufficient and free from violence.

What is Dottie’s House?

Dottie’s House is a transitional housing program designed to provide survivors of domestic violence with the tools, guidance and support to achieve financial and emotional independence.

How We Help Survivors

Dottie’s House is a long-term, comprehensive program offering our residents case management, counseling, and therapeutic art classes for the children. Survivors reside in our fully furnished apartments. They are assisted with resume writing and interviewing skills to help them find employment, or help with completing scholarship applications. They also receive assistance with budgeting, credit repair and other financial support as well as help with parenting on an individualized basis.

Fundraisers + Events

Throughout the year, Dottie’s House hosts events that help fund our mission. We invite our community, family and friends to join us and help support the women and children of Dottie’s House.

From Our Graduates…

“…Life has become a true joy and I wake up everyday grateful and I have you to thank for that! Your program has taught me how to deal with life's obstacles. None of this would have ever happened without your help! I will be forever thankful for Dottie's House…”

“I was living in a two bedroom apartment— fully furnished—thanks to donations from the public at large. I would probably never have had the opportunity to be the recipient of such acts of kindness from people who have never…met a victim of domestic violence [but] were able to extend their consideration to me [and] others in the same situation.”

“[Dottie’s House] has allowed me to gain a sense of pride. I am now financially independent and able to provide a safe, healthy living environment for myself and my son free of violence. I am truly grateful for all of the staff and residents who have been a part of my journey.”

In Memory Of Our Founder, Carol Wolfe

Dottie's House was founded by Carol A. Wolfe in 1999 with the vision of a housing program that is not just shelter but of helps women transition to being able to support themselves. It was named in honor of her mother, Dottie Camilli, who was a victim of domestic violence. Dottie's House opened its doors in May 2001 and has served dozens of women and children in the nearly 20 years it has been in operation.

We lost Carol in 2019 and she is dearly missed but she lives on in our mission at Dottie’s House.
